Analyzing Literature group session icon

Saturday 8:00 a.m. 

The Analyzing Literature group session will help you understand how to critically analyze literature and prior studies into common themes and outliers. During this session, you will have the opportunity to practice implementing various analysis strategies, with emphasis on the research funnel to support flow and structure. Students are encouraged to come with topic ideas for the coach to use as an example. This session is helpful to attend if you would like to learn how to analyze research.  Appointment Scheduler

Tuesday 1:00 p.m. 

This group session will provide students with support for some of the common formatting issues encountered while completing the dissertation. Appointment Scheduler

Problem Statement group session iconSaturday 9:00 a.m. 

While developing the statement of the problem, you may face challenges such as incorporating the funnel approach, including research, identifying gaps, and discussing the contribution to the field of research while keeping all the details concisely 250-300 words. Therefore, this live group coaching session will enable you to explore various techniques and strategies. There is always time provided for interactive group discussions, so each session is unique. Students are encouraged to attend this interactive group session more than once while developing their statement of the problem.   Appointment Scheduler

Tuesday 4:00 p.m. 

Learn best practices for proofreading during this hands-on session. A member of ASC's Proofreading Team will demonstrate how to proofread using documents submitted during sign-up. By focusing on APA, formatting, and grammar, writing content gains clarity and connection for the reader. Although not all documents or pages will be reviewed, all participants can gain insights into improving their work. Appointment Scheduler

Purpose Statement group session iconWednesday 3:00 p.m. & Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

The Purpose Statement Group Session will guide you through the purpose statement process by providing an understanding of the significance and meaning of the purpose statement. Through questions-and-answers, examples, guided practice, and application of knowledge, you will leave the session with the competency needed to effectively construct a purpose statement, including its connection to the problem statement and the research questions.  Students are encouraged to attend this interactive group session more than once while developing their purpose statement.  Appointment Scheduler

Tuesday 7:00 p.m. & Thursdays 2:00 pm

The Qualitative Analysis and NVivo group session will help students better understand the phases of qualitative analysis. The session will promote competency in how to organize and prepare data for analysis. Additionally, the session will ensure a firm understanding of how important coding is as a foundation for the analysis process. Students will also be able to ask questions related to NVivo and will see examples of the coding and organization in NVivo live in the session. The session will encourage discussion and engagement with other learners through a live guided practice activity. Qualitative Research Design group session icon

Wednesday 3:00 p.m. 

This group session will introduce you to the core qualitative designs. This session will provide insight into the benefits and cautions for each design and will give guidance to those unsure about the type of qualitative design most appropriate for their research. During this session, you will learn more about the assumptions, limitations, and seminal authors related to each design. There will be time for Q&A, so be sure to bring any questions you might have.  Appointment Scheduler

Quantitative Research Design group sessionFriday 4:00 p.m.

This group session will introduce you to experimental, quasi-experimental, non-experimental, and causal-comparative research designs, including the description and general requirements for each design typology. During this group session, you will learn about the requirements for an experimental, quasi-experimental, or non-experimental research study. The information you learn during this interactive session will help you to make an informed design selection and fully understand why that selection is the most appropriate for your study.   Appointment Scheduler

Monday 4:00 p.m. 

Have you ever had trouble getting your purpose statement to work with your problem statement? Or did your research questions not quite fit the purpose of your study? For a successful research study, all key elements must work together, as revealed in the dissertation. In this interactive group session, you will learn how to align your problem statement, purpose statement, and research questions, and you will be given strategies to develop your own. You are encouraged to attend this session if you want to improve the alignment of your dissertation.  Appointment Scheduler

Synthesis and Analysis group session icon

Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

The Synthesis and Analysis group session will help you understand and utilize the key concepts of synthesis and analysis in academic writing. During this session, you will have the opportunity to practice synthesis and analysis through use of an outline for paragraph and paper development. Students are encouraged to come with topic ideas for the coach to use as a research example. During this session, you will practice identifying themes, topics, or evidence for collaboration or divergence. Students are encouraged to come with topic ideas for the coach to use as an example. Theory-Conceptual Framework group session iconTuesday 1:00 p.m. 

The Theory-Conceptual Framework Group Session will help you in understanding the key components of a theoretical-conceptual framework and its purpose in your work. We will identify theories and concepts present in a research topic, working together to develop a framework for the dissertation study. Through examples, questions-and-answers, and guided practice with theories and concepts, this session will uncover the importance of the theory-conceptual framework, empowering you to identify potential frameworks and begin the first steps of putting it together. Appointment Scheduler

Writing Research Design group sessionSunday 1:00 p.m. 

The Writing Research Design group session will provide you with the foundational knowledge needed to successfully write up research designs within the three major social sciences research methodologies (e.g., Quantitative, Qualitative, Mixed Methods). During the live session, you will learn how to write a research design section through question and answer periods, guided practices, and examples of the application by identifying an appropriate research design for a  hypothetical research problem (i.e., research plan).  Appointment Scheduler
